Ebook Readers are the Future
Now that newspapers have almost vanished, the typical paper book is headed in the same direction…extinction. More and more books are going digital and the e-book reader or e-readers are becoming extremely popular. E-book readers are electronic devices similar to a laptop computer but focus on reading digital files instead of creating digital files.
The most popular e-reader currently is the Kindle. The Kindle is a 6″ or 9″ diagonal e-book reader from Amazon. It is super lightweight, compact and very easy to use. The Kindle is 7.5″ by 4.8″ and only weighs 8.5 ounces. You can carry it around all day without any fatigue unlike paper books which are quite heavy. The Kindle is not back-lit like computers are which makes reading pleasant. Back-lit screens cause eye strain and headaches. The Kindle screen is matte finished and produces no glare even in the mid-day sun. The screen is soft to read like a paper book is.
The Kindle can hold 3,500 ebooks which can be downloaded online via the WiFi capabilities of the Kindle. You can also surf the web with the newly developed browser. You can download a book in as little as 60 seconds. There are over 800,000 books available for the Kindle online. That’s quite a selection! Most ebooks are under $10 too. They are very inexpensive.
The future of books is digital and the colleges have already started to offer ebooks for some courses. Soon all public schools will use ebooks instead of paper books. Kids and students will only need to get a ebook reader such as the Kindle in order to attend any school. They will download their books and then they’re all set. No more heavy book bags to haul around. The Kindle makes reading fun too.
